Hoang Xuan Tan, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said, "The festival aims to continue affirming the meaning and value of peace, honoring the spirit of solidarity and friendship, and spreading a message of peace to the Vietnamese people and international friends.”
“It is also an occasion to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom. The festival seeks to promote the image of a renewing, dynamic, and identity-rich Quang Tri and introduce its cultural and tourism potential and advantages, creating opportunities for organizations and businesses to cooperate and invest, thereby contributing to local socio-economic development," Tan noted.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong said the festival represents a concrete step in implementing Vietnam’s strategic orientations for cultural development, which aim to make Vietnam an attractive destination for international cultural and artistic events.
The festival also highlights the outstanding values of Quang Tri, a land that symbolizes aspirations for peace, healing, revival, and development, while building the locality into a cultural space for peace.
"The festival will send a message that memory is not only a reminder of the past, but also a spiritual foundation for nurturing peace, cultivating tolerance, and creating a sustainable future for development. Therefore, the festival also reflects Vietnam’s practical response and contribution to the international community’s efforts to promote dialogue, enhance understanding, and build a peaceful and sustainable future for generations to come," said Cuong.
The Festival for Peace 2026 will run through December, featuring a wide range of commemorative, cultural, artistic, sports, and tourism activities, alongside investment promotion, trade networking, and community events centered on the themes of peace, friendship, and development.
Key activities include a candlelight tribute marking the 79th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs’ Day and a floating flower lantern ceremony on the Thach Han River on July 26; an international marathon in August; a hot air balloon festival in November; a national concert in December; and celebrations marking the centenary of Khe Sanh Coffee.
