Each commune and ward can select up to three models to follow. The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will conduct inspections of each locality and provide guidelines for self-assessment. Localities scoring 80 points or higher will receive awards at a review conference in December.
Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, vice chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Phu Xuyen Commune, Hanoi, said: “We have adopted two of the 10 models, which aim to build friendly schools and cultural and sports facilities. These models were first implemented in August and September, respectively. Agencies across the city have come to learn from our examples. I think they are meaningful to our community here.”
So far, all 126 communes and wards across the city, along with local agencies, have drawn up implementation plans and selected suitable models.
The same day, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched an online contest called “Culture in Every Action”. Participants can submit short videos, stories, and examples of good conduct and practical initiatives from across the capital.
