Concerted efforts by the political system and the business community have delivered tangible results in poverty reduction and social welfare in the capital. Hanoi now has no households classified as poor under the government’s multidimensional poverty standard.
Resources mobilized through the Fund for the Poor have supported the construction of 1,325 Great Unity houses, provided livelihood assistance, funded medical examinations and treatment, awarded scholarships and delivered tens of thousands of gifts to disadvantaged families. More than 3,000 children from disadvantaged families have received support to attend school.
Bui Thi Huyen Mai, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, said: “The program will continue to spread acts of kindness and bring more opportunities, confidence and hope to people facing hardship. I hope today’s program will help connect more compassionate hearts and inspire even greater acts of sharing, so that all residents can together build a cultured, civilized, modern and happy life.”
