The soldiers lost their lives during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
The ceremonies began with wreath-laying and incense-offering rituals, followed by a memorial service. The remains were then transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs Cemetery for burial.
Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, said:
“This is an important mission that reflects the armed forces’ traditions of remembering those who came before us and honoring those who have served the nation. It is a tribute to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and freedom. We hope that local residents, especially those along the route of the funeral procession, will hold white flowers and respectfully bid farewell to the fallen heroes as they are laid to rest.”
Before the memorial service, the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha held a prayer ceremony at Le Thi Rieng Park at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
