In the fifth amendment to the Phytosanitary Order (Regulations on Imports into India) of 2026, effective from July 13, India added Vietnam to the list of countries permitted to export fresh durian for consumption to its market. India does not require additional phytosanitary declarations on the Phytosanitary Certificate and does not impose any special import conditions for this product.
India has a large population, a growing middle class, and increasing demand for high-quality imported agricultural and food products. Accessing this market creates more opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to diversify their export markets, reduce dependence on a few traditional markets, and enhance the value and position of Vietnamese durian globally.
