A special bulletin by India’s Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that India and Vietnam made major progress in bilateral ties during Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s State visit.
Major Indian newspapers such as The Times of India, The Economic Times, The Indian Express, and DD News highlighted the two countries’ agreement to upgrade ties to an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” based on the spirit of “shared vision, strategic convergence, and substantive cooperation.”
Indian media highlighted the goal of raising bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD by 2030, describing it as “ambitious but achievable,” as Vietnam is currently India’s largest trading partner within ASEAN. Bilateral cooperation in maritime affairs, the defense industry, and regional security also became headlines in many newspapers.
The media also ran commentaries on the Vietnamese top leader’s policy speech at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), saying that the message of “shared vision, strategic convergence, and substantive cooperation” has established a new development framework for bilateral relations in the coming decade.
