At the Government's regular press briefing in Hanoi on Saturday, Colonel Son described the campaign as a comprehensive national effort aimed at making significant breakthroughs in locating, recovering, and identifying the remains of fallen soldiers. The campaign aims to recover 7,000 sets of remains, collect biological samples from around 230,000 unidentified graves in martyrs' cemeteries nationwide, DNA analysis of about 18,000 sets of remains, and complete a national genetic database for relatives of unidentified martyrs.

Although officially launched on April 2, 2026, the campaign covers the period from March 15, 2026, to July 27, 2027. In the coming months, the Ministry of National Defense will continue advising the National Steering Committee on implementing more robust measures to ensure the campaign meets its objectives.
