At the meeting with representatives of Steering Committees of military regions, provinces, and cities, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Head of the National Steering Committee 515, stressed the determination to achieve the target of recovering 7,000 martyrs’ remains as a meaningful activity marking the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27, 2027.
Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said: “Ho Chi Minh City’s Steering Committee 515 has reviewed documents, records, and archived information, cross-checked data, met with witnesses and individuals and organizations, and and verified information. Ho Chi Minh City is verifying information provided by military agencies, related organizations, and individuals of locations that may contain the remains of fallen soldiers in order to carry out the next steps.”
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra stressed the need to thoroughly analyze records from 250 major battles and operations by the end of this year in order to identify and search for the remains of soldiers.
To date, Steering Committee 515 has recovered 1,255 martyrs’ remains and identified three mass graves. In the second half of the year, the Committee targets to recover about 3,000 martyrs’ remains across Vietnam.
