Vietnam and Myanmar established diplomatic relations in 1975. Bilateral ties have been maintained through various channels of contact, cooperation, and economic exchange.
Two-way trade turnover reached 590 million USD in 2025, with the figure for the first six months of 2026 hitting 336 million USD (a 26% increase year-on-year). Vietnam now has 107 active investment projects in Myanmar with a total registered capital of over 1.4 billion USD, ranking fifth among the 87 countries and territories receiving Vietnamese outward investment.
Amid continued progress in Vietnam-Myanmar relations, the Myanmar President's official visit demonstrates mutual trust and contributes to strengthening the friendship and Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership between the two nations.
The visit reaffirms Vietnam's unwavering foreign policy of peace, cooperative development, and the diversification and multilateralization of external relations. It underscores the commitment to fostering ties with traditional friends—particularly Myanmar—and valuing the interests of fellow ASEAN member states, for the sake of a united, cohesive, and resilient ASEAN Community in a volatile world.
