At a working session with the provincial Party Committee, the Prime Minister urged Lao Cai to renew its growth model by accelerating the application of technology and digital transformation while restructuring the economy toward new growth drivers. He stressed the need to promote cross-border trade, develop a modern smart logistics hub, make tourism a spearhead economic sector, and expand ecological and circular agriculture. The province should also strengthen its flagship agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) items in association with tourism and services.
Prime Minister Hung asked for the effective implementation of the provincial master plan in line with the regional development strategy. He highlighted the importance of making full use of Lao Cai's new development framework, featuring one growth corridor along the Red River, two development poles in the north and south, and three economic zones in the east, west, and central areas. The Government leader also urged faster implementation of key infrastructure projects and continued efforts to streamline the administrative system to ensure the efficient operation of the two-tier local government model.
Regarding preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year, Prime Minister Hung asked Lao Cai to complete the first phase of four inter-level boarding schools for ethnic minority students before August 30.
He also called for the effective implementation of the nationwide "500-day campaign" to search for, recover, and identify the remains of fallen soldiers, while ensuring meaningful activities honoring war veterans, wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, and other people who have rendered meritorious service to the nation.
