In a post on Truth Social he said that both sides had consented, without disclosing specific terms, and urged neither party to violate the agreement. "Both parties have agreed," Trump wrote, "Do not break it!"
The statement came a day after the US President criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing Kyiv's attacks on Russian diesel facilities of contributing to global fuel shortages.
However, in a subsequent interview with Axios, President Zelensky expressed surprise at Mr. Trump's statement, asserting that he had no knowledge of such a ceasefire agreement. “But if Russians agree to an energy ceasefire, Ukraine will agree."
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian leader said "If President Trump negotiated it with Putin, please tell us when the ceasefire begins. We are ready, and we will accept it."
