Such an agreement would not end the conflict, but may "potentially alleviate some of the global pressures that are being felt as a result of that" and "serve as the baseline or a platform for a broader agreement", Rubio told reporters in New York.
He said: "I think both sides have expressed an interested in some limited ceasefire that involved grain and energy. Obviously, that won’t be easy either, because – but it’s something that both sides have expressed some interest in. And so obviously, look, that’s something that might – it doesn’t solve the war, but it does I think in some ways potentially alleviate some of the global pressures that are being felt as a result of that."
In addition to energy security, Ukraine has said it considers maritime security in the Black Sea a top priority. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday told leaders at a summit on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly that Kyiv was ready for a maritime truce in the Black Sea based on proposals such as those put forward by Egypt, India and Turkey.
