The figures were announced at a mid-year review of the operation in Quang Ngai, held on Wednesday by the provincial People's Committee.

In the second half of 2026, the province will deploy four more DNA sampling teams to collect between 160 and 200 samples per day. The provincial steering committee expects all samples to be gathered by October 2026.

Y Ngoc, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ngai People's Committee and head of the provincial steering committee for the search, recovery and identification of martyrs' remains, urged for continued reviewing, collecting, and verifying information on fallen soldiers and their graves.

"All communes and the provincial Veterans Association must develop their own action plans. We will establish and maintain dedicated teams that review, survey, and verify information on fallen soldiers' graves, and submit weekly reports to the standing agency," she said.
