Nearly 80,000 people from Morocco entered Ceuta in late July, either by swimming or crossing the border on foot. While most have since returned to Morocco, between 3,500 and 7,000 migrants remain in Ceuta, including many unaccompanied minors.

Spain has established a “unified command” in Ceuta, led by Territorial Policy Minister Ángel Víctor Torres, who says the priority is to repatriate as many migrants as possible.

The government continues to provide humanitarian assistance to asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors, and plans to establish reception centers capable of accommodating up to 1,800 people.
