Iran's state-run IRNA news agency quoted the IRGC as saying that a tanker named "Trend" had attempted to make what Tehran considered an illegal voyage through the strait. The UK partially confirmed the report.
Meanwhile, the US State Department said Thursday that it would allow an Iranian delegation to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York next week.
The Department said the decision was in line with the US's obligations as the host country. It said the Iranian delegation will be smaller than last year's and will face travel restrictions, as well as a ban on purchasing certain luxury goods and other products, but the US will also allow Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to attend the event.
