This year’s festival marks the second celebration since the event was inscribed by UNESCO as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024. It is also the first festival held since An Giang province began implementing the two-tier local government model, as well as the first year of the national action program on safeguarding and promoting heritage values.
Vice Chairman of the An Giang provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, Le Van Phuoc, said: “The inscription of the Ba Chua Xu Goddess Festival at Sam Mountain on UNESCO’s List of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a great honor and pride. It places a major responsibility on the Party organization, authorities, and people of An Giang to continue implementing the national action program on preserving and promoting heritage values. We will make greater efforts to safeguard and promote the heritage, preserve its cultural significance, and further introduce the image of An Giang province to domestic and international friends.”
