Anwar Gargash, senior adviser to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, praised the Indian captain for preventing the co-pilot from taking control of the aircraft. The co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain with a folding knife on September 30, while Flight FZ1073 was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers on board.
The captain and several passengers restrained the co-pilot, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
All passengers were safe and were later flown to Israel on two other Flydubai flights.
