Earlier this month, the Houthis launched a series of attacks across Saudi Arabia, targeting various facilities, including King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh and the headquarters of oil giant Saudi Aramco.
Security Council members also condemned continued Houthi attacks and threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They stressed the need to protect commercial vessels and their crews, comply with international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and uphold freedom of navigation.
Council members called on the Houthis to immediately end their military escalation in Yemen, saying lasting peace cannot be achieved through violence, coercion, or force. They also reiterated their support for a UN-facilitated political process led by Yemenis.
