The 47-page budget resolution includes 60 billion USD for rebuilding weapon stockpiles, enhancing military capabilities, and other operational costs, as well as 13 billion USD for intelligence and security programs and 12 billion USD in aid for farmers to cushion rising energy and fertilizer costs.
The proposed funding falls far short of the 350 billion USD that the Trump Administration requested earlier this year, as part of a new reconciliation bill, to boost defense resources, reflecting ongoing disagreements between the White House and Republican lawmakers on the scale of the bill.
The bill faces opposition from both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats argue that the bill will raise the national debt, while fiscally conservative Republicans cite a lack of spending cuts to offset the supplemental spending.
