In an interview with Fox News, Trump said Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz but warned that Tehran could still disrupt shipping by laying naval mines. He warned that the US could strike Iran's Pickaxe Mountain complex if the two sides fail to reach an agreement.

Trump said the US military is capable of destroying many of Iran's bridges and power plants but will avoid targeting desalination facilities to prevent harm to civilians.

Iran, meanwhile, said it continues to maintain control over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and rejected reports that it had sought to resume negotiations with Washington after Trump paused a two-week air campaign.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Trump on Tuesday at the White House, where the two leaders discussed the regional conflict, diplomatic efforts involving Tehran, and broader Middle East security issues.
