Iranian media early Saturday morning confirmed that a loud explosion came from the Sirik city area, in the south of the country.

Ealier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that US forces in the region had raided Iran's missile, radar and drone sites in the coastal area of the Persian Gulf. CENTCOM said the campaign was in response to the Iranian drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lonely in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.

"The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire," US Central Command said in its statement announcing strikes.

This marked the first time the US attacked targets in Iran since both reached a preliminary deal, also known as the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding on ending the conflict reached on June 17.
