During the discussions, both leaders agreed on the need to further strengthen political trust, maintain regular exchanges, and better understand each other’s interests and requirements to expand the scope of cooperation. They expressed a firm commitment to elevating the relationship between Vietnam and Belgium to a new level.

Regarding political-diplomatic and defense-security ties, the two leaders agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels—particularly at the high level—across all channels. They also pledged to effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms and agreements, while fostering diverse connections between Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities and the Belgian Federal Government and its regions, so as to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership in the near future. The two sides agreed to establish defense and security cooperation as a key pillar, focusing on training, military medicine, United Nations peacekeeping, law enforcement, and information sharing.

Regarding economy, trade, and investment, both sides agreed on the need for new breakthroughs and the promotion of large-scale, strategic cooperative projects in sectors where Belgium possesses traditional strengths and Vietnam has urgent needs—such as seaport development, smart logistics chains, green energy, eco-industrial parks, and high-tech, climate-resilient agriculture.

General Secretary and President Lam urged Belgium to encourage its major corporations to expand their investments in Vietnam, affirming Vietnam’s strong commitment to fostering a favorable and secure business and investment environment for Belgian enterprises to operate in the long term.

He also requested that Belgium continue to support Vietnam-EU relations, maximize the benefits of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and advocate for the European Commission (EC) to lift the "yellow card" warning regarding illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing for Vietnamese seafood.

Both leaders shared the view that science and technology hold significant potential for cooperation. They stressed the need to promote joint research projects, technology transfer, and collaboration in strategic and emerging technological sectors, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and semiconductors.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in education, training, and people-to-people exchanges, the two leaders noted that mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations serves as a driving force to elevate bilateral relations to new heights. On that basis, they agreed to expand educational ties, promote exchanges in culture, sports, and tourism, and foster practical cooperation between localities in Vietnam and Belgium.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stability, freedom, security, and safety of navigation and aviation; upheld multilateralism and respect for international law; and expressed support for ASEAN’s central role in the Asia-Pacific region.

Both sides agreed to strengthen close coordination and mutual support within multilateral forums and international organizations—notably the United Nations, the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), and the framework of the ASEAN-EU strategic partnership.
