The bilateral cooperation agreement on UN peacekeeping operations also provides for French support in deploying Vietnamese officers to the EU Training Mission in the Central African Republic.

During their talk, the senior officials agreed to further deepen bilateral defense cooperation in the coming time.

General Giang said Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense welcomes French military personnel to attend international defense officials’ courses and Vietnamese-language courses, as well as military medical trainees for internships at Vietnamese military hospitals.

He welcomed a delegation from the French Ministry for the Armed Forces and Veterans to the third Vietnam International Defense Expo in Hanoi this December.

General Giang proposed that Vietnam and France soon sign a memorandum of understanding on searching for Vietnamese and French service members who remain unaccounted for and exchanging wartime memorabilia. These activities would provide a framework for cooperation in humanitarian activities, contributing to Vietnam's on-going 500-day Campaign to search for, recover, and identify martyrs' remains, ahead of the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day next year.
