The visit is expected to help develop cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, including space technology, according to Prof., Dr. Tran Hong Thai, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).
The successes of the VNREDSat-1 program which was launched on May 7, 2013 are laying the foundation for space technology cooperation to enter a new phase towards developing next-generation satellite systems, increasing training and technology transfer, and gradually improving Vietnam's technological capacity.
VNREDSat-1 experience indicates that cooperation with France helps Vietnam access a real technological system, form a specialized team capable of maintaining capacity over time, and build a data exploitation ecosystem serving Vietnam’s specific needs.
Professor Thai noted that the visit to France by Party chief and President To Lam also contributes to Vietnam's willpower and determination on its journey to master outer space, a field of increasing strategic significance in the new era.
The visit will open up substantive cooperation opportunities in science, technology, and innovation, leveraging France's strengths, especially in strategic and space technology, aligned with Vietnam's new development needs, Mr. Thai said.
