The two day event focuses on building an effective communications strategy to convey the vision, priorities, and achievements of APEC Vietnam 2027, while helping the public better understand the role of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in promoting growth, recovery, and prosperity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, head of the APEC Communications and Culture Subcommittee, said that as host economy, Vietnam’s communications efforts will focus on bringing APEC closer to the public to help people in Vietnam and in the region better understand the forum’s value and its tangible contributions to their daily lives.
Ms Hang said that the effective communication will help to tell the people three interconnected stories: the story of APEC, the story of Vietnam, and the story of cooperation, partnership, and friendship.
"Through APEC 2027, we have an opportunity to share a new chapter of Vietnam, a story of aspiration, transformation, resilience, and confidence in the future." said Hang.
In line with this vision, communications activities for APEC 2027 will be rolled out in multiple phases and across different timelines. Messaging will be clearly defined, consistent, and tailored to diverse audiences.
According to Fernando Salas, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the APEC Secretariat, APEC promotes initiatives that facilitate trade and investment, accelerate digital transformation, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and foster innovation, sustainable development, and inclusive growth.
He said: "Many of the issues that PIC addresses are complex and technical. The role of each and every one of us to help translate those discussions into clear, accessible, and meaningful message for different audience include businesses, policymakers, media, stakeholders, and wider public."
