Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan said the theme, “Smart Connectivity, AI Governance, Shaping AI Transformation,” reflects three closely linked priorities. Smart connectivity provides the foundation, effective governance builds trust, and AI transformation must deliver tangible results: better public services, higher productivity, stronger businesses, and improved quality of life.

“Our vision is clear: AI for people, AI for all, mastered by Vietnam and co-created with the world. For Vietnam, self-reliance does not mean working alone. It means building the capability to cooperate as an equal partner, contribute knowledge, and share value,” said Mr. Quan.

At the opening ceremony, Julian Gorman, head of the GSMA Asia-Pacific region, presented the GSMA Government Leadership Award 2026 to the Vietnamese government.

The Ministerial Roundtable on Digital Affairs and AI featured speakers from Australia, Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, South Korea, and the United States. They took part in two discussions: “Policy Perspectives: Shaping the AI Transformation Roadmap” and “Partner Perspectives: Businesses, Research Institutes, Universities, and International Organizations.”

Running through October 30, Vietnam International Digital Week 2026 includes forums and workshops on strengthening AI capabilities and digital innovation, inter-regional cooperation forums, and exhibitions showcasing products and solutions in strategic technology sectors.
