Prime Minister Hung said he hopes to have a thorough and substantive exchange with the Japanese Prime Minister on “major directions and specific measures to further deepen, enrich, and enhance the effectiveness of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan in all areas of mutual interest.” They include economy, trade, investment; ODA; green transformation, digital transformation; science and technology, innovation; food security; and sustainable energy. The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue boosting political trust and effectively implementing cooperation mechanisms in diplomacy, trade, industry and energy, and agriculture; and to enhance substantive cooperation in defense and security, especially in maritime areas, addressing the consequences of war, cybersecurity, peacekeeping operations (PKO), military medicine, training, and responding to transnational crime.

Both stressed the need to deepen economic cooperation through trade, investment, and ODA; and to continue concretizing cooperation within the framework of Japan's initiatives in the region. Japan will continue to support Vietnam in effectively implementing the project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta.

They agreed to restart the Vietnam-Japan Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in 2026. Japan said it expects to continue supporting Vietnam in enhancing technological autonomy in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and space; further cooperation in labor, local and people-to-people exchanges, culture, tourism, and education; and organize the second Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum in 2026.
