Speaking at the Forum themed "Building a shared future: talent, innovation and skills for the future", Mr. Lam said Vietnam identifies human development as the focus, goal and driving force of national construction and defence. Both Vietnam and New Zealand attach great importance to education, while promoting innovation and pursuing green growth and sustainable development.
He called on the two countries to jointly develop high-quality human resources for the digital, green, circular and knowledge-based economies, while prioritising artificial intelligence, data science, digital technology, cybersecurity, biotechnology and smart agriculture.
"Promote cooperation in research, innovation and knowledge transfer. Universities and research institutes should become centres of knowledge creation, connect with businesses to address development challenges, and organize joint research groups and programs for higher education, and establish mechanisms to translate research results into practice. The two countries should strengthen cooperation in vocational education and skills development, recognise credits and competencies of the other, and provide workplace-based training and retraining for the workforce."
At the Forum, several universities from Vietnam and New Zealand exchanged cooperation documents on education.
