Addressing the general debate of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-153) in Tanzania on Wednesday, Mr. Dien said Vietnam putting people as a driver and at the centre of policymaking and action has contributed to its socio-economic achievements over four decades of renewal process.
Vietnam is pursuing major institutional reforms to create a stronger foundation for development, with science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation and the circular economy identified as key drivers.
Against this backdrop, Vietnam outlined three priorities for inter-parliamentary cooperation in the period ahead. First is to promote greater public participation in governance. Second is to strengthen oversight, transparency, and accountability to narrow the gap between commitments and results. The third is to ensure that science and technology serve people and contribute to narrowing development gaps.
National Assembly Vice President Dien said Vietnam continues to be an active and responsible member of the IPU, promoting dialogue, strengthening trust, and transforming challenges into opportunities for cooperation and mutual development.
