Chairing a meeting in Hanoi, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam said TKV's 2026-2030 restructuring plan should be completed quickly and be aligned with Vietnam's national strategies on energy security, mineral development, and sustainable industrial growth.
Mr. Lam said: "The group must be repositioned as a modern energy and materials industrial group. In the immediate term, it must ensure sufficient coal supplies for the economy by proactively importing, blending, stockpiling, and producing coal domestically in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while diversifying sources of imported coal. Over the longer term, the group should expand into deep mineral processing, advanced metallurgy, new materials, and the development of strategic minerals in which Vietnam has identified competitive advantages."
The Vietnamese top leader also called for faster adoption of science and technology, digital transformation, and productivity improvements, while strengthening corporate governance, restructuring investments and finances, and expanding international partnerships to enhance the group's competitiveness.
