Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang on Friday delivered a statement at a discussion session on “Reforming Multilateral Systems and Global Governance” as part of the BRICS Expanded Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi, India.

Deputy FM Hang addressed the global complex developments and urged countries to act responsibly, abide by international law and the United Nations Charter; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations; exercise restraint, and refrain from using or threatening to use force; and resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue.

She stressed the need to ensure maritime security, safety, and freedom of navigation through straits in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The Deputy Minister proposed that BRICS promote South-South cooperation and North-South dialogue in shaping global governance structures, prioritizing the equitable access of developing countries to financial resources, technology, and knowledge.
