The two-day congress is a major political event for the Society and humanitarian workers in Vietnam. It takes place ahead of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society on November 23.
The Congress is themed "Promoting the core role in humanitarian work; innovation, digital transformation, resource connectivity; building a strong Society and safe, self-reliant, and sustainable communities".
High on the agenda was reviewing the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th National Congress, considering amendments and supplements to the Society's Charter, electing the 12th Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, and adopting the Congress Resolution.
The congress also heard presentations from delegates and approved the personnel plan for the 12th Central Executive Committee, its Standing Committee, and the Standing Body of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
As planned, the Congress will hold its official opening session on Tuesday morning.
