Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang made the statement during Monday’s working session with WTO Deputy Director-General Jennifer DJ Nordquist within the framework of his working visit to Switzerland.
Nordquist said the WTO will continue to support Vietnam in its global integration. It will work closely with Vietnam on its Trade Policy Review in November and roll out technical assistance programs, including programs tied to the expanded Information Technology Agreement. She urged Vietnam to consider joining the Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement.
While working with Andre Hoffmann, Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Deputy Prime Minister Thang urged the WEF to keep driving public-private partnerships and connecting the Vietnamese Government with leading global companies and investors.
He suggested crafting a Vietnam–WEF Cooperation Program for 2026–2030 centered on sci-tech, innovation, and the development of a modern financial ecosystem. He urged the WEF to make the Autumn Economic Forum in Vietnam an annual fixture in its conference ecosystem.
