This marks a milestone for Vietnam, which will host an international Olympiad dedicated to artificial intelligence for the first time. The competition, launched by the National Innovation Center ( NIC), UNESCO, and other partners, is open to high school and university students, and the global tech community, with the goal of identifying and nurturing young AI talent while promoting international cooperation in the field.

Meanwhile, VAIC 2026, organized by the NIC in collaboration with Meta and partner organizations, is one of Vietnam's largest AI-native hackathons and a key initiative under the Vietnam Innovation Challenge.

During the intensive 48-hour coding competition running from Friday to Sunday, participating teams will tackle real-world challenges set by leading enterprises, developing practical AI-driven solutions.

VAIC 2026 focuses on eight priority areas: finance and banking, healthcare, education and training, agriculture, smart public services, innovation, operational solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and disaster prevention.
