At a ceremony to mark Vietnam’s 81st National Day organized on Wednesday by the Vietnamese Embassy at Viet Nam House in Washington, D.C., Ms. Hooker described Vietnam as an important partner of the US in Southeast Asia.

She said the two countries should strengthen cooperation in addressing the consequences of war, clearing unexploded ordnance, security cooperation, economic development, education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties.

On the occasion, Congressman Abraham Hamadeh presented Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung with a statement entered into the Congressional Record of the US House of Representatives to mark Vietnam’s 81st National Day and the conclusion of the ambassador’s tenure in the United States.

The statement ackowledged Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung’s contributions to strengthening Vietnam-US relations.
