At the meeting, Mr. Moratinos expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s responsible contributions as a member of the UNAOC Group of Friends.
He said UNAOC continues to implement practical programs focusing on four key pillars: youth, education, external relation media and migration.
Mr. Moratinos also shared a new initiative entitled “Call for Peace, End of Wars and Respect for International Law” which aims to promote substantive and sincere dialogue. He expressed hope that Vietnam would consider hosting a UNAOC conference in 2027.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed Vietnam’s appreciation for the UN’s and UNAOC’s efforts to promote dialogue, mutual respect, solidarity and the peaceful settlement of differences.
He said Vietnam is entering a new era of development and remains committed to an independent, self-reliant and resilient foreign policy, while continuing to act as an active and responsible member of the international community.
Vietnam welcomes peace initiatives, he said, adding that relevant Vietnamese agencies will study the UNAOC proposal.
