More than 200 guests attended the event at the New South Wales Parliament House, including representatives from the state parliament, local authorities, members of the Consular Corps of Sydney, business representatives, and the Vietnamese community in Australia.
Vietnam and Australia officially established diplomatic relations more than 53 years ago. The countries' ties have since developed extensively, said Vietnamese Consul-General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung.
The recent state visit to Australia by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn's visit to Vietnam in 2025 demonstrated the growing political trust between the two countries and their determination to deepen and expand bilateral ties, Tung said.
Also attending the event was President of the New South Wales Legislative Council Ben Franklin. Franklin expressed his admiration for Vietnam for overcoming many challenges. He congratulated Vietnam on its achievements and said Australia is proud to have worked with Vietnam on its journey.
