Landslides have blocked many roads in Lai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien, and Lao Cai provinces. One lane of National Highway 32 in Lai Chau is expected to reopen later on Sunday, but 18 landslide sites on Provincial Road 109 in Son La remain closed. Heavy rain is expected to continue in the northern mountains over the next few days, raising the risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding.

The Prime Minister, ministries, and local authorities have issued emergency orders to respond to the disaster. On Sunday, a team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep, visited Lai Chau to direct recovery work.

Soldiers, police, and local authorities are searching for the missing, helping affected families, clearing roads, and monitoring the weather.
