The visits, scheduled from Sunday to next Friday, reflect growing political trust and will provide a foundation for deeper, more effective, more sustainable cooperation.
Professor Carl Thayer of the University of New South Wales said, “Vietnam has always been stable and a positive contributor, through working through the ASEAN Regional Forum, the East Asia Summit, etc. Dealing with climate change is an extremely important policy for both New Zealand and Australia. With Vietnam, you are committed to it. Also, because of your stress on science, technology, innovation, digitization, that provides massive opportunities for us in niche areas. We're not major powers like Germany or France in terms of the economy, but it's a highly specialized area. And what can we do? It's mutual.”
Professor Thayer said Vietnam’s partnerships with Australia and New Zealand have tremendous potential. Vietnam places a strong emphasis on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, making these areas top priorities for future cooperation.
According to Professor Thayer, Vietnam can expand collaboration with Australia and New Zealand in a number of fields, including artificial intelligence, supply chain development, disaster risk management, and smart agriculture.
