A motorcade escorted President Parmelin and his spouse as they arrived at the National Assembly House. Hanoi children joyfully waved the flags of both nations to welcome the Swiss guests, who were presented with colorful bouquets of flowers.

Accompanied by welcoming music, General Secretary and President Lam and President Parmelin walked along the red carpet to the ceremonial dais. A military band played the national anthems of Switzerland and Vietnam.

Afterward, both leaders stepped down from the ceremonial dais to inspect the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army. They introduced the members of their respective high-level delegations attending the welcome ceremony.

Following the welcome ceremony, General Secretary and President Lam and President Parmelin and their respective high-level delegations held talks, and witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between the two countries’ ministries and agencies.
