(VOVWORLD) - Kim Bong carpentry village is located in Cam Kim commune of Hoi An town beside the Thu Bon river. The 500-year-old village is renowned for its wood carving and sculpture. The traditional carpentry has been preserved by the village craftsmen, especially People’s Artisan Huynh Ri, who has restored ancient temples and pagodas in Quang Nam province.

(VOVWORLD) - Xuan Hoach is known as a veteran artist of Vietnamese folk music. Hoach is not only able to play traditional music, he also teaches music and crafts traditional musical instruments.

(VOVWORLD) - Neang Kunh Thia of An Giang province is known for her devotion to local music and art. Kunh Thia choreographs, stages, and performs musical theatre and Cham Rieng Cha Pay, a traditional folk music of the Khmer. VOV’s Ngoc Tuoi reports.

(VOVWORLD) - Journalist and author Mai Van Lang, who works at Radio the Voice of Vietnam, is a very successful writer of lyrics for folk songs and Cheo, Vietnam’s traditional opera. His lyrics are simple, but poetic, meaningful, and easy to remember. Lang was recently selected to represent VOV at a conference to honor 2017’s outstanding role models.

(VOVWORLD) - After graduating from the University of Agriculture, Lo Thi Cuong of the Xinh Mun ethnic group returned to work in her native commune in Son La province. As the Chairwoman of the Phieng Pan commune’s Women’s Association, Ms. Cuong has made a significant contribution to local women’s livelihoods.

(VOVWORLD) - A research project by Dr. Le Van Tri, General Director of the Biotechnology Joint Stock Company, has won a prize from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Tri’s research will help farmers improve the value of the citronella oil they produce. VOV’s Ngoc Anh reports.

(VOVWORLD) - Professor Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, has been honored by the 2017 Vietnam Glory program for his outstanding contribution to Vietnam’s renewal over the past 30 years. This is the second time Tri has received the distinction.

(VOVWORLD) - Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Minh Son, Commander of Nam Yet island in Truong Sa (Spratly ) archipelago, is one of 40 individuals honored this week for excellence in defending national maritime sovereignty.
