At the event, visitors enjoyed art programs and got to see giant Mid-Autumn lanterns, which were selected from a number of designs submitted by wards across Tuyen Quang province before the festival.
“I traveled with my family to Tuyen Quang to join the festival. The lanterns are beautiful,” a visitor to this year event said.
“I like singing and waving flags on the Mid-Autumn carriages with the sparkling lights,” said a young attendee.
“I was amazed by the Mid-Autumn lantern designs. Everyone is having a great time,” another added.
This is the third time that Ms. Tran Thi Kim Thanh from Hai Phong City has attended the Tuyen Citadel Festival, but she was excited like the first time.
She said: “I have been to Tuyen Quang many times, and I want to come here many more times to experience the sights and sounds of Tuyen Citadel Festival. This Mid-Autumn atmosphere makes me really happy and moved.”
The giant lanterns at the festival were modeled after animals, fairy-tale characters, and cultural symbols. They were made by Tuyen Quang residents themselves, and demonstrated the locals' creativity, skills, and love for their homeland.
Every year, locals would come up with a fresh batch of ideas for the lanterns. They are both unique cultural products and testaments to locals' active role in preserving and promoting traditional values.
A local, who worked on one of the lanterns, said: “We based our lanterns on folk stories and historical elements, so that children can learn more about Vietnam's history and national construction and defense.”
“Seeing the kids enjoying our beautiful lanterns makes us love this job even more,” said a local from Tuyen Quang province.
After more than 20 years, Tuyen Citadel Festival has been developed into a unique cultural and tourism offering. The event is attracting more and more visitors to the province during the full-moon season and helps promote Tuyen Quang's tourism brand - a friendly and fascinating destination.
“The festival brings together many of our beautiful cultural traditions. I wish to promote and introduce my hometown to visitors from across the country and around the world," said Tran Hai Duyen, a local.
This year, Tuyen Quang province also held a festival of local farm produce, OCOP products, traditional crafts, and other local specialties so as to strengthen the link between production, commerce, and tourism, and increase local products' value. In addition, the Festival offers sports activities and fun experiences.
Ms. Bouhafs Nor El Houda, a visitor from Algeria, said: "I'm so excited to join today's festival and we will see how it will go today."
