Hearing-impaired painter Tran Nam Long creates sound in his strokes

(VOVWORLD) -An ancient and simple Hanoi with old stairs, mossy walls, and old French-architecture buildings is reproduced in 50 oil paintings and pen-and-ink sketches at a recent exhibition called "Old Streets" in Hanoi. This is the first solo exhibition of Tran Nam Long, who is hearing-impaired but capable of creating drawings that bring the sounds of life to life.

US veteran returns notebook of Vietnamese martyr

(VOVWORLD) - US veteran Peter Mathews from New Jersey has kept a Vietnam War notebook for over 50 years. He is now Vietnam to give back the notebook to its owner, Vietnamese martyr Cao Van Tuat of Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province. The 77-year-old veteran considers this a great mission of his life.

(VOVWORLD) - Journalist and director Nguyen Bong Mai last year made a trip across Vietnam with the aim of discovering and understanding the cultures of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, focusing on national costumes and music. After the trip, she organized an exhibit called "Dare to lead a glorious life" which encourages people, especially women, to overcome social prejudices and self-imposed limitations to realize their own dreams and ambitions.

(VOVWORLD) -Photographer Tran Tuan Viet received an "honorable mention" at the annual International Monochrome Photography Awards, a renowned black and white photography contest. He is the only Vietnamese photographer to collaborate with National Geographic (NatGeo), the magazine of the US National Geographic Society. Viet, who has taken hundreds of photos capturing the beauty of Vietnam, said taking pictures is a passion, not a job.

Vietnamese documentary in top 15 for 2023 Oscars nominations

(VOVWORLD) - “Children of the Mist”, by Ha Le Diem, a female director from the Tay ethnic minority group, has been included on to the shortlist of the top 15 documentary films advanced in the Documentary Feature Film category of the 95th Academy Awards (2023 Oscars). The Awards will be presented on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the US.
