Deputy head of the General Department Tran Duc Phan said the timing of the Games was agreed at a recent meeting of the SEA Games Steering Committee.
The biennial regional event is set to feature a total of 40 sports along with 520 events. The largest sporting event in Southeast Asia is scheduled to take place in Hanoi and 11 other northern localities.
Originally scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 2, 2021, it was postponed to May 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the second time Vietnam will hold the SEA Games since 2003.
