Under the 500-day campaign to locate and identify fallen soldiers, Tuyen Quang has so far recovered 149 sets of remains, including 148 soldiers who died defending the northern border and one who laid down his life during the resistance war against French colonial rule. Of them, five sets of remains have been identified and handed over to local authorities and families in accordance with their relatives’ wishes.

Delivering the funeral oration, Phan Huy Ngoc, Chairman of the Tuyen Quang provincial People’s Committee, said, "Your blood and bones have merged with the motherland, helping safeguard the nation’s sacred sovereignty, writing glorious pages in our history, and upholding the noble virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Your sacrifice will be remembered forever by present and future generations."

Veteran Trinh Xuan Hung traveled hundreds of kilometers from Nghe An province to Vi Xuyen to pay tribute to his fallen comrades.

"I came here and cried my eyes out. My comrades lie here. In the past, when we took attendance in the battalion, we stood in rows and files. Now, here too, they lie in rows and files, but it breaks my heart. I told my comrades that as long as I have the strength to walk, I will keep looking for them," said Hung.
