This year’s program was co-sponsored by the Ministry of National Defence and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. In Hanoi, the event was held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Ba Dinh Square.
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang praised the program’s innovative approach and urged the organizers to make it an annual activity, closely linked with patriotic emulation movements and major national campaigns.
The collective efforts and unity of millions of citizens will generate immense strength to realize the aspiration of building a strong, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, General Giang said.
Thousands of people in Dak Lak province joined the walk. Following the national flag-saluting ceremony, more than 4,000 citizens, civil servants, public employees, and armed forces personnel walked two kilometers along major streets in Buon Ma Thuot ward.
Nguyen Truc Ngan, a resident of Buon Ma Thuot ward, said: “Today’s walk is deeply meaningful for me. It is an opportunity to connect with other people. Walking with my family strengthens our bonds. The atmosphere is wonderful, and seeing everyone wearing shirts featuring the red flag with a yellow star looks truly spectacular.”
The “Moving Forward with Vietnam 2026” event attracted 1,774,268 participants in 3,000 communes, wards, and special administrative zones in 34 provinces and cities.
More notably, Guinness World Records officially announced that “Moving Forward with Vietnam” had set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of localities simultaneously organizing a walking activity to raise environmental awareness. The milestone recognizes the unprecedented scale of the event and the community’s capacity to unite and take collective action nationwide.
The 2026 nationwide walking campaign was launched on August 12, calling on citizens across Vietnam to register online, accumulate steps, and contribute to the “10 Billion Green Steps – For a Sustainable Vietnam” journey.
