The draft law aims to institutionalize the Party's guidelines and the State's policies, fulfill Vietnam’s international commitments related to seas and oceans, and realize its goal of becoming a strong maritime nation that prospers from the sea.

At the meeting of the Policy Appraisal Council on the draft law held in Hanoi this week, delegates focused on improving regulations on the management and use of marine space while ensuring national defense and security, clarifying the rights and obligations of organizations and individuals using marine areas, strengthening measures to control marine and island environmental pollution, and introducing preferential mechanisms and support policies to boost the marine economy.

The appraisal council agreed to submit the draft law to the Government after the drafting agency incorporates feedback, finalizes the dossier, and continues close coordination with ministries, agencies, and experts to ensure the law’s feasibility, consistency, and effectiveness once promulgated.
