China’s move, which has caught attention of the international public, has seriously violated international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and directly threatened regional and global peace and stability. Being a responsible member of the UN, Vietnam has been persistent to resolving disputes and conflicts in the East Sea by peaceful means.

Engel, on Friday issued a statement on Chinese interference in Vietnamese-controlled waters, in which he said China’s actions constitute a violation of Vietnamese sovereignty and its legitimate rights within its exclusive economic zone.

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam resolutely and consistently protects its sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction in the East Sea as defined in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) through peaceful means based on international law, the Foreign Ministry’s Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said on Thursday.

(VOVWORLD) - The Chinese survey vessel Haiyang Dizhi 8 and its escorts have conducted activities in the Southern area of the South China Sea, to which Vietnam refers as the East Sea.

(VOVWORLD) - Chinese geological survey vessel group Haiyang Dizhi 8 has recently violated Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and continental shelf in the south of the East Sea. The water fully belongs to Vietnam in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), to which both Vietnam and China are members. China’s move seriously violates Vietnam’s sovereign right and jurisdiction right and runs counter to international law.

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam has demanded China to immediately end violations and withdraw all vessels from her waters, respect her sovereign right and jurisdiction, for the sake of the bilateral relations and for peace and stability in the region, said Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang on July 19.
