(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese government has issued a Decree on Personal Data Protection, which will take effect on July 1st. It creates a legal framework for the national digital transformation program, toward information security and comprehensive digital development. The Decree comprehensively recognizes the basic rights of individuals who are data subjects, sets out technical and legal requirements for businesses to process and manage data of Vietnamese citizens, defines the function and authority of agencies administering personal data protection in Vietnam, and specifies requirements for cross-border personal data processing. With specific and detailed regulations, the Decree is a new shield to protect human rights in Vietnam.
