Mui Ne–Ham Tien welcomes winter getaway tourists

(VOVWORLD) - The Mui Ne–Ham Tien tourist site in Lam Dong province is entering its peak winter getaway season, with a sharp rise of both domestic and foreign visitors. In addition to beach holidays, an increasing number of travelers are seeking to explore the daily life of local fishing communities and take part in water sports.

Since late last November, Mui Ne–Ham Tien in Mui Ne ward has received large numbers of foreign visitors. Along the coastline, tourists can be seen sunbathing, strolling on the beach, or enjoying beach activities like stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kitesurfing.

Tourism in Mui Ne is undergoing a strong shift, becoming more closely linked to the lives of local fishermen. Fishing villages, early-morning fish markets, and traditional basket boats on the sand have become popular attractions, drawing visitors who opt for tourist activities other than hanging out at a resort.

Tran Thi Thuy Nga, Head of the Reservations Department at Blue Ocean Resort, said“Foreign winter-stay guests tend to stay much longer than domestic tourists, typically for at least one week and up to three months. Our main markets are European countries, particularly Germany. This year we’ve also seen a significant increase in Russian visitors.”

Domestic travelers are also choosing Mui Ne–Ham Tien for extended stays. The current trend goes beyond the resort experience, expanding toward exploring and engaging with the locals.

Nguyen My Linh, a visitor from Hanoi, said: “I come here quite often, but today was my first time exploring Suoi Tien, and it was wonderful. It’s simple, yet the sand formations are fascinating. I haven’t really learned about its history, but it must be thousands of years old. I’ll definitely return many more times, not just a second visit, because Phan Thiet has so many beautiful places, especially Mui Ne beach and the sand dunes.”

Lam Dong province’s development strategy identifies the Mui Ne–Ham Tien coastal area as a vital link between the Central Highlands and the coast. New planning aims to strike a balance between protecting the marine environment, preserving shared community spaces for residents, and promoting sustainable tourism-driven economic growth.
